The Wareham Historical Society invites the public to an awesome exhibit about Wareham Main Street businesses from the 1940s to present time by the Wareham Village Association. Thank you to Phyllis Decas, Judy Galavotti, Dee Fearing for their dedication to this timeless project and generous donation to WHS!

This morning, Wareham High School paid respectful tribute to those who died in the attacks on September 11, 2001.

Never Forget!

All of us living at the time of the attacks remember where we were that morning on September 9, 2001 and how we felt hearing the news reports.

I was teaching in a middle school classroom. We were told not to share the news to the students and let their parents decide when they were safe at home.

May all those we lost because of the attacks that day rest in peace.

Happy Labor Day to all our treasured family and friends!

President Grover Cleveland declared Labor Day a federal holiday on June 28, 1894 after the Chicago Pullman Strike.

The Captain John Kendrick Maritime Museum will be closed today, Sunday, September 13, 2026 due to the predicted heavy rain storm this afternoon.
We will be open for tours the next 2 Sundays (September 20 and 27th, 2026) from 1 to 4 p.m. before we close for the regular season this year.

It is with profound sadness that I announce Kitty Rounsville has passed away. She was an amazing woman of integrity and courage, who was just shy of her 103rd birthday. Kitty was an icon at The Wareham Historical Society's Fearing Tavern Museum, giving tours and educating hundreds of people over the years. She was a dear friend to all fortunate to have known her and will be dearly missed. The Wareham Historical Society sends our deepest condolences to her family.
