Happy National Fossil Day!

A few years ago, members from our team took a trip to Montana to a section of the Hell Creek Formation, which is famously known for its abundance of fossils. While there, they were able to help uncover part of an Edmontasaur.

Fossils like the Edmontasaur were formed when at one time, the creatures were rapidly buried by water. The specimen our team helped unearth is just one example of countless fossils that are discovered all over the world, and these finds reflect the kind of conditions we would expect from a global catastrophic flood, just like the one recorded in the book of Genesis.

Scientific discoveries continue to confirm the events stated in the Bible, especially when examining the fossil record! All the evidence God has preserved for us is a powerful testament to his greatness woven throughout creation.

DID YOU KNOW there’s a snake that can glide through the air?

The Chrysopelea, also known as the flying snake, launches it's self from trees, spreads its ribs to flatten its body and moves from side to side as it glides.

These incredible creatures can glide from one tree to another, sometimes covering distances of more than 300 feet. They are found in forests across parts of Southeast Asia, where their slender bodies help them move easily among the branches.

Even a snake in midair gives us another reason to marvel at the variety of creatures God has made.

DID YOU KNOW canyons can form in days?

That is what followed after the Mount St. Helens eruption in 1980, when a massive eruption dramatically changed the surrounding landscape. Following the eruption, another volcanic event in 1982 melted the snow and ice that had accumulated on the mountain, releasing a massive volume of water that flowed down the mountain at high force. As the water rushed through the newly deposited volcanic sediment, it rapidly cut through the layers, forming a canyon in a remarkably short amount of time. This canyon was about 1/40th the scale of the Grand Canyon, showing just how quickly powerful forces can reshape the landscape.

The rapid formation of this canyon at Mount St. Helens gives us an example of how catastrophic events and massive amounts of water can produce dramatic geological changes in a short period of time. It reminds us to consider how similar processes on a much larger scale could have contributed to the geological features that followed Noah’s Flood and the geological changes we see today. The deeper we dive into the wondrous world around us, the more we see evidence that the Bible is true.
