You are invited to "We Are Water" in which professional Storyteller, Rebecca Hom, will tell stories that focus on Water to a creative audience of amazing makers and thinkers.

This gathering will be on Sunday, May 17th at 2:00pm in the Whitman College outdoor Amphitheater. We will have beverages, snow cones, and other frozen treats and we will also provide notebooks and pens in case anyone wants to write down particular quotes or draw out some ideas as Rebecca is weaving and unspooling her yarns.

You can just come to enjoy the stories, but if you wanted to create a piece (which can be music, writing, or a visual piece) based on the stories told at this event, it will be considered for inclusion in our Water Exhibition in the Sheehan Gallery in Fall 2026.

*I will also record the storytelling that I can share, just in case you still want to make a piece, but can't join us on the 17th.

Join us in a moment of quiet today to honor the INCREDIBLE Disability Activist & Author, Alice Wong, who dedicated her life to amplifying the voices and experiences of the disabled community. Her career focused on challenging systemic ableism through storytelling, advocacy, and community organizing. We are lucky to feature Michaela Oteri's beautiful portrait of Ms. Wong in the current Sheehan/Maxey exhibition. Rest in Power, Alice - your profound efforts will live on and ripple out!
