Have you fallen in love with Jennifer Nauck's bubble bowls?

We highlighted Eben earlier this week - now it's Glass Station co-owner Jen's turn:

Working at the intersection of tradition and personal exploration, Jennifer Nauck creates hand-blown glass vessels and sculptures that reflect the delicate balance between strength, fragility, and fluidity. Now based in Wakefield, Rhode Island, Nauck co-owns The Glass Station Studio and Gallery with her husband, glass artist Eben Horton. She draws on her deep connection to nature and her passion for craftsmanship to produce work that honors both ancient techniques and contemporary ideas.

Nauck began her glassblowing journey in 2003 at Glassworks Studio and Gallery in Estes Park, Colorado, where she initially worked after hours, teaching herself through trial, error, and relentless experimentation. By 2007, she became a full-time production artist, honing her skills in functional forms before evolving into original sculptural work. Her process focuses on transparency, light, and the subtle ways glass mirrors the human experience.

A former student of English at Wittenberg University and Rice University, Nauck later found her true voice in glass. Her newest bodies of work explore modular sculpture, using blown bubbles joined together to symbolize individuality within collective structures—echoing themes of interdependence, strength, and vulnerability.

How well do you know our founder?

Eben Horton began blowing glass in 1989 at 15 years old, apprenticing at Thames Glass in his hometown of Newport, Rhode Island. This apprenticeship extended through high school, seeing Eben hone his skills before attending The School of American Crafts at Rochester Institute of Technology. After completing the BFA program, Eben taught classes at The Corning Museum of Glass as he worked to establish his own business as a glassblower and artist.

A classically trained Venetian-Style glassblower, Eben uses those skills to inform contemporary work that is deeply rooted in the new tradition of American Studio Glass. While he describes himself primarily as a craftsman, he attributes his greatest success to his interactive public art installation, called the Glass Float Project. This site-specific, participatory work has spanned fifteen years and touched the lives of thousands while garnering national recognition, including extensive coverage in The New York Times.

In 2000, Eben converted a 1930’s gas station into The Glass Station Studio, his permanent base for glassblowing. Since then, the studio has expanded. The Glass Station Studio and Gallery remains a home for Eben's artwork and his practice while featuring fine art and objects by dozens of world-class glassblowers.

Octopus week continues! The Brilliant Blue classic octopus by Mike Hopko could be the star of his own show, don't you think?The swirls of light and dark blue throughout this sculpture call to mind light refracting through the water. Isn't it mesmerizing?

Where would you put this blown glass creature?

Octopus week day two features what we think is one of the most creative iterations of Mike Hopko's octopus sculptures. The Blue Tako "Hungover" Octopus isn't recovering from a bender - its tentacles are carefully sculpted to drape over the edge of a shelf or table, as though it's scooting around your home as gracefully as the sea floor.
