I often get asked where to find the oral history interviews we are doing at the Aiken County Historical Museum. Well, I made a Recollections Facebook to share a few of the videos from our YouTube page. This will give you an idea of what I am working on for our area.

Now that we have your attention, we need your help!

Okay, so we know that the post's image is a bit dramatic.... but wouldn't you post the words "Help!" in a big, red font if you had to clean an historic house?!?!

Did you know that the museum's home, Banksia, is 17,500 square feet? That's about 38% the size of a football field (Go Dawgs! Oops, I mean Go Tigers! **Editor's note: There is an ongoing football rivalry amongst the museum staff. I'm sorry that you had to witness it.**)

We’re a small, passionate team at the museum, and we do our best to keep the museum tidy! However, our wonderful historic building tends to gather dust rather quickly, and with our busy schedules, it’s tough for us to keep up with it all. That’s where you come in!

If you love history and want to lend a hand in keeping our space clean—or if you just enjoy cleaning (**Editor's note: That sounds like a strange thing to enjoy, but you do you.**)—we would be absolutely delighted to have you join our friendly volunteer team! Your support would mean the world to us!

If you're able to help, please call or email our Events & Volunteer Coordinator Ian Mini at (803) 642-2015 ext. 7106 or [email protected].

Thank you!

Another example of the type of video we hope to create, but for our area. Thank you again Marsha Rial Davis for sharing your parents' story with us at the Aiken County Historical Museum. If you have time, take a look at her interview and share with those who may be interested in Aiken County history!

This wonderful lady was one of my first interviews over in Jackson, SC. Jackson is celebrating their 75th birthday! These are the type of videos we hope to do for Wagener and the surrounding area. I've already been in contact with a couple of wonderful ladies that have said they would be happy to be interviewed.
