Drop In Tours Tuesdays and Thursdays - 10 am to 1 pm. Call us for available dates and times! Andrew Peterson started his farm in the 1850s. Among other things, he grew: apples, plums, cherries, grapes, and traditional crops. Most well known for his apples, Peterson's farm became one of the first University of MN experimental research stations, precursors to today's Horticultural Research Center at

the MN Landscape Arboretum. Peterson favored Russian Astrakhan apples, and hosted horticulturists from across the country at his farm. He also kept a daily journal from 1855-1898, which provides a detailed account of daily farm life. This journal was used as the basis of the Emigrants series of books, by Swedish novelist, Vilhelm Moberg.

Don't mind the conversation, we were just surprised to see our feathered guests after seeing off the kids at our summer camp today! The Peterson farm is always full of surprises!

The traveling exhibit, "Documenting Disappearing Family Farmsteads" is now up and ready for visitors in the Peterson farmhouse. This exhibit will be in the farmhouse until September 27th, then will move to the museum in Waconia.

The farm is open for walk on tours Tuesday and Thursday 10-2 and by appointment. Cost is $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers.

You can also see the exhibit for free before the vintage baseball game August 8th, noon to 1or during Fall on the Farm September 26th between 10 and 2.
