Underground iron mine tours. Ride a train 1/4 of a mile into an authentic mine. Walk the rest of the way listening to our experienced tour guides describe how this mine was mined for 68 years. This tour takes you 2,600 feet into an authentic mine through drifts and stopes. Experienced guides show mining techniques and equipment dating back to 1877. Tours last about 45-50 minutes. $18.00 for adults

We’re getting ready to open for the season on Friday, May 22, 2026 (Memorial Day Weekend)!

We’re excited to share that Joey and his crew at Swanson Solutions LLC are building us a brand-new canopy. They’ve been fantastic to work with. Joey is very professional, communicative, and a fair price. We highly recommend checking them out! Stay tuned for updates as we continue making improvements in honor of the three businessmen who started this tourist attraction. Eugene R Carollo(my dad), Albert H Carollo(my uncle), and James Goulette- a state representative at the time.

Today was an exciting day at the Iron Mountain Iron Mine! We had the pleasure of hosting 70 Michigan State University faculty members, including Michigan State University’s basketball coach, TOM IZZO. Tom Izzo is from Iron Mountain, Michigan! A big THANK YOU to all who came and we hope you enjoyed the tour. We are very grateful that you stopped by! Was a very special day for us!

I want to Thank all my employees because without them this place would not be as great as it is! I am blessed to have Cindy, Donna,Emma,Mary,Myah,Kay,Dean,Paul,Milt, Chris,Katelyn and Sommer! Thank you University of Wisconsin Geology department. Great to have you all!! Our last weekend of the season is this weekend Oct 10th with Sunday Oct 12th our last day. We are open from 9 to 5 Friday, Saturday and Sunday, running tours every hour with last tour of the season at 4:10 CST.
