A Place Worth Preserving

The Whitehurst-Buffington House, circa 1793, is designated as one of the 50 most historically significant structures in Virginia Beach.

The Whitehurst-Buffington House is currently being restored and preserved as a living example of Virginia life in the 18th and 19th centuries and as a tribute to the Whitehurst family.

We expect to have architects, archaeologists, historians, biologists, gardeners, and others contribute their knowledge and time to interpret and conserve the house as a center for all who are interested in our city’s history.

The house is owned by the City of Virginia Beach and is managed by the Whitehurst-Buffington Foundation a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
