Finally, after 3 years of waiting for its spot in the restoratation shop, the 1915 Budd/GMC, WWI, AEF Aviation Services (AS) truck has made it inside to start the process of being reassembled. For the most part, the truck is primed, the pieces and parts are being restored and it will be ready for a new wood bed and canvas to be installed by spring. The motor is still being evaluated as to whether the truck will ever run or just be a static display for now, but it's beginning to look sharp.

Work continues in the Ike Murphy Restoration Shop this week on the Link Trainer Flight Simulator (also known as the "Blue Box"). Volinteers Ed Marando and Frank Roales are shown here after covering a wing with fabric, while other volunteers, Marc Freuchtel and Ben Dawdy work on the fuselage itself. This rare and fully operational, finished project should resemble the one pictured here at the NAS Ft. Lauderdale Museum and hopefully be on display in the IMM Annex by the end of the year.
Word was received today that another great veteran and longtime friend and contributor of IMM, Jim Baize, 96, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away yesterday. Jim was a member of the US Navy during WWII, piloting a Higgins LCVP landing craft on Iwo Jima, similar to the one he helped to restore and display at the Indiana Military Museum. He will be sadly missed. His incredible story is here ...
