Thanks to everyone who made the dedication to Zachary Baker happen today. The family told me their hearts were full when they left. Seeing the 200 kids from Frank Mitchell and passing by them shaking hands did it. Teachers and students you made a difference. A city proclamation and chamber recognition topped the ceremony. Whether the museum is open or not, the exhibit is open and the public is invited to paint and place memorial rocks in honor.

The Museum of Veterans and Military History will be holding a ceremony at 10 a.m., Wed., Oct 21, recognizing the sacrifice of Army Cpl. Zachary D. Baker, 24, who was killed in action May 28, 2007 while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Zachary was a 2002 graduate of VHS. Family members will be in attendance. The public is invited to attend.

The Faulkner County Veterans Service Office will be closed next week, Monday, October 19, 2026, through Friday, October 23, 2026, to allow officials to attend required Arkansas Veterans Affairs Training. Should you need assistance during this time, please call 501-329-5945 and leave a message. Your call will be returned as soon as possible. The Faulkner County Veterans Service Office will reopen on Monday, October 26, 2026, for normal business hours.

A few veterans are needed to post flags for the fallen on Nov. 7. You only provide the manpower. Program begins at 11:30 and ends at 12:15. You would need to be there by 11 a.m. If you are available to participate, please message me.
