The Altama Museum of Art and History is housed in the stately Brazell House near downtown Vidalia, Georgia. On the National Register of Historic Places, the 1911 building is marked with enormous columns and inviting porches. Inside, soaring windows and historic details provide elegant backdrop for an array of Contemporary Southern art, antique prints, fine furniture, historic costume and an impressive collection of Staffordshire porcelain dating to the 1770s. The Shiplett Gallery of Girl Scouting preserves regional scouting history and is curated by the Sweet Onion Service Unit. The museum is currently open on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:00 AM-1:30 PM, and the first Saturday of the month from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM. The museum is closed for all Federal holidays. Admission is free but a $5 donation per guest over 12 is appreciated. The facility is also available for civic meetings and social events. Check back frequently for Special Events and Gallery Openings. If you have any questions or would like to make an appointment, please call (912) 537-1911.

Altama Museum is excited to host its 1st Annual Harvest of Hope Art Exhibition & Art Sale!

This is a Cancer Charity Art Exhibition & Art Sale to benefit the Low Country
Cancer Center. The call is open to all emerging & established artists & mediums (photography, painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpting, mixed media, ceramics, glass, metal and/or woodwork, etc). The theme of the exhibition is artist’s choice.

Application is due by 11:59 pm, September 14, 2026.
Art dropoff is September 28 th – Oct 12 th .
Show dates are October 25 th – December 11 th .
Art pickup is December 14 th - December 17 th .

Entry fee is $20 for up to three (3) pieces for non-AM Art Guild members. Entry fee is $0 for up to three (3) pieces for AM Art Guild members. All original mediums are welcome. No giclees (digital prints intended as fine art and produced by inkjet printers) or reproductions of works.

All works must be for sale. All work must be ready to hang (canvas-wired,
paper/photographs-framed - no sawtooth hangers allowed) or displayed on display
podiums. We ask that submitted work not exceed 4ft x 4ft. If your piece is larger, just reach out — exceptions may be possible depending on museum approval and available space.
All work must be labeled with:
* Artist’s name
* Title of piece
* Medium
* Price
