Materials and finished product were shipped out of Lee Paper Company by train.
Trains would switch tracks at Vicksburg Union Depot to the southbound tracks, from there they switched to a spur that crossed over 24th Street (Silver Street) and took the train west then north into the mill.

Jane's dedication to cemetery preservation in and around Vicksburg is truly inspiring. Thank you for all you do, Jane!

Jane Crist was awarded the Mercer Munn Award in June because of her selfless service and generous heart, both embodied by the late Mercer Munn. Since her retirement, Jane has committed herself to restoring headstones and grave markers in area cemeteries.
She demonstrated Mercer Munn’s compassion when her heart was broken when she discovered an unmarked Civil War Veteran’s grave, and she worked with Leah Millowe with the Vicksburg Historical Society to identify the grave, secure a
marker, and pushed for a ceremony. Her persistence and commitment made this happen. Read her great story by By Kathy Oswalt-Forsythe in the July issue and at southcountynews.org

Demolition of two homes on the southeast corner of West Prairie and Michigan.
The two homes were torn down in 1962 (or in the late 1950s) to make way for a service station. Cliff's Cities Service Station operated until 1963 and was then a Citgo station under several owners until 1978. It was then Big T's and The Filling Station.
Today, Fred's Pharmacy is located here.

The Tastee-Freez ice cream cone can be seen on the left while a Shell service station (likely owned by Tom Cross at this time) is seen in the background.
