THIS DATE IN MISSOURI HISTORY

•September 8, 1929 – One town was a damsite better than some. On this date a boomtown was springing up near the site of a proposed new dam at the town of Bagnell. The town’s name was “Damsite.”
• September 8, 1938 – The streets of Pineville were crowded with fans hoping to see Tyrone Power, Henry Fonda, Randolph Scott, Brian Donlevy, John Carradine, and other stars who were filming the movie, “Jesse James.” One of the most memorable scenes was a horseback jump into the Lake of the Ozarks.
