🧠💛 PLAY ISN’T “JUST PLAY.” IT’S HOW CHILDREN LEARN.

They’re actually building their brain.
The American Academy of Pediatrics says play supports children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. Play helps children practice problem-solving, communication, creativity, self-control, cooperation, and even executive-function skills like attention and working memory. (AAP Publications)
And play doesn’t have to look like a worksheet to be learning.
A child pretending to be a doctor is learning to communicate.
A child building a tower is experimenting and solving problems.
A child playing with another child is learning to share, negotiate, and navigate relationships.
A child climbing and moving is developing physical skills and confidence.
Play is learning—but it’s learning in a way that feels like childhood. ❤️
And that’s why places to play matter.
Not every child has access to a safe, engaging space where they can explore, imagine, create and play alongside other children. The American Academy of Pediatrics specifically recognizes the importance of safe opportunities for play, including for children with special needs. (AAP Publications)
