Vacaville Heritage Council

Vacaville Heritage Council We have on file several thousand photographs dating as far back as the 1850's. We also have a collection of books related to local and California history.

Negatives are archived for all the sample photographs and prints can be made for requesters in our own photo laboratory. We are in the process of scanning or photographing all records and photographs in our files so that they may be made available to the public. We also work closely with all Solano County museums, historic organizations, and the Solano County Genealogy Society which occupies the u

pper floor of the Old Town Hall. If we do not have what you are looking for, it is possible that we may be able to refer you to someone who can provide the information.

We are a Historical Research Center whose mission is to preserve Solano County History.

We do that by digitizing all media with the technology we have so it's available to researchers, public and our volunteers.

We have recently purchased a technology that will allow us to scan almost all the film sizes that we have in our collection.

Currently, this automated technology is being used to digitize 35mm film with great success.

We are looking for volunteers who can commit an hour or two per week that we can provide a weekly time slot after training on the unit.

Our days open are Tuesday/Thursdays and the third Saturday of each month from 9 am to 1 pm.

If we could find volunteers who enjoy history and would like to assist us, and is available for that one to two hour time slot above, please stop by at The Old Town Hall at 618 E. Main Street, Vacaville, and ask for Doug.

I look forward to meeting you to help us preserve local history.

Our condolences to the family and friends of former Mayor Dave Fleming. He was a kind and thoughtful man with a quick wit and humor. He led by example and will long be remembered for his integrity. An advocate for volunteering, his service left the City of Vacaville a better place.
