Our Story

Please note that the Utica Children’s Museum is now closed as we create a brand new museum experience at our new location on The Parkway in Utica. We have an anticipated opening of Spring, 2022.

The Utica Children’s Museum was founded on August 1, 1963 and since the 1970s, was housed in a beautiful historic building located in the heart of Utica’s downtown Bagg’s Square district. Originally named The Children's Museum of History, Natural History, and Science, now dba the Utica Children's Museum, the Museum offered approximately 60 exhibits and experiences throughout four floors of play space and is in the process of being transformed into a hands-on, interactive destination that will impact more than 100,000 visitors over the next five years.
