We're getting set up for our Spring Open House! The layout is up and running, our food trucks are showing up, and the G scale layout group has their display setup. Potter County Fire Department should be here shortly as will the Pantex Historian for tours of the White Train which, by the way, is now fully powered! Come see us 10-2 today! 3160 I Ave out past the airport on Hwy-60.

The Amarillo Railroad Museum is excited to announce the coming arrival of a custom run of ScaleTrains Rivet Counter HO Scale Agrium Gunderson 5188 Covered Hoppers. Proceeds from the sale of each car will go directly to the museum, a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

Agrium, a major retail supplier of agricultural products in North America, has hundreds of covered hoppers running in bulk commodity (unit train) and single-car customer service all over the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The models are painted in a gray-based color scheme with colorful Agrium “Growing Together” logos. Amarillo chose this prototype due to a local Agrium plant in Borger, TX, that is served by the Panhandle Northern Railroad. The cars are interchanged at Panhandle, TX, with the BNSF Railway bringing them in from several North American locations.

These cars have landed at the ScaleTrains warehouse in Tennessee and the anticipated arrival date for these HO Scale freight cars in Amarillo is just a few weeks away! The museum has already pre-sold over 25% of the models; so make sure to order yours here: https://www.amarillorailmuseum.com/product-page/scale-trains-furx-agrium-covered-hopper

That's a wrap everyone! We had a great turnout despite some less than stellar weather. We enjoyed visiting with everyone and showcasing the progress we've made on our layout. Thank you to Pantex Plant for lending us their historian, Potter County Fire-Rescue for E-4, Texas Air & Space Museum for always joining us, and Sweet Sipz Texas for providing amazing drinks! We couldn't do it without all our partners. See everyone next year.

Folks, we are still holding our Open House. The weather has turned worse, but we're here, the layout is in operation, the White Train is open, and we're giving tours. Come see us on this rainy day and I promise you won't be disappointed. What else are you going to do when it rains? 😂

The weather forecast hasn't gotten any better for us. Unfortunately, that means some of our attendees that were scheduled to be outside have had to back out. It was what it is and the Panhandle can sure use the rain, so we won't fret. We will still be open and will have plenty for people to see and do. We're still looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow!

We're aware that the forecast for Saturday isn't the greatest. Our luck that one of the few days we get rain in the Panhandle ends up being the day we set for our Open House! LOL It is what it is. We'll be there and everyone is welcome. We'll make the best of it and do what we can, weather permitting.
