One of the important projects I have taken on stemmed from trying to find out more about our indigenous roots. I’ve always been into my native side, but never have put forth effort to discover what that really means until now. In my search, I discovered that I am ineligible for legally claiming the tribes, our family history, because they are not named in the ‘registary’…
I’m an Aries… so you know I was pi**ed at the unjust of that… thinking harder into it, I realized that there are no ‘registry’s’ for any other ethnicity , in the USA.
My intent grew to a level that to not do , or at least try , to update this circumstance. Would not work for me.
The current process is Indigenous peoples, natives and founders of this country, have to come up with non-existent paperwork, due to numerous displacements and other atrocities committed on us, to be able to collect federal/state benefits, that anyone can get, without the burden of‘being registered’…
BARF
my idea is to change the name (for starters) of this book/register to
ACKNOWLEDGED

Here are some bits of the rough draft I have put together:::

“acknowledged” I deserve to be.
Acknowledged I will be.

Rename the Registry

- **Action:** Legislate to rename the “registry” to “Acknowledged Native American Heritage or a similar title that reflects dignity and respect.

Create a Historical Reconciliation Program**
- **Action:** Introduce programs aimed at documenting the histories of displaced tribes and individuals, including oral histories.
- **Purpose:** This would help create a more comprehensive understanding of indigenous histories and support identity claims.

Combine this with 3 to support accurate historical accounts stressing on acceptance of oral histories. Having a first /second hand knowledge of these imposed hardship’s will help whoever it is that writes the history books for our school systems, to entwine real, overlooked and purposefully left out facts regarding American Indians heritage/experiences, thus ACKNOWLEDGING.

# # # 6. **Implement Protections Against Displacement**
- **Action:** Enact legislation that makes ceremonial lands, community spaces, including private residency, businesses, parks, government “owned” parcels, thruways with public access, exempt from removal , displacement , development (unless so agreed by tribal council) ensuring that tribal oversight is respected.
- **Purpose: this small first step is a step in the right direction of ACKNOWLEDGING whose land this is.

# # # 7. **Facilitate Regular Reviews of records introduced into a heritage database in order to improve accuracy in of teaching American history, here in America.
PUROSE: mandate regular evaluations and utilization of the American Indian heritage database to ensure it is utilized where correction is needed, throughout current writing systems, learning systems, etc. for the whole of the American population.
**Enhance Access to Benefits**
- **Action:** Review and expand the language regarding benefits available to already “registered” nNative Americans to include data from the ACKNOWLEDGED AMERICAN INDIAN HERITAGE database, which accepts oral accounts and claims without non-existing paperwork of proof currently required to “register “‘, thus ensuring ALL NATIVE AMERICANS can:
1. easily navigate an updated process that won’t require having personal/tribal paper trail of tribal/individual history that is hard to obtain , or doesn’t exist, due to displacements or other atrocities experienced circumstances beyond personal controll.
2. Ensures ALL Native Americans access to .the benefits delegated, without the stress of providing non-existent paperwork/written proof, thus an ease of claim in authentic sovereignty, granting a returning pride , gain of public respect.

These legislative actions aim to ultimately illuminate a “registry” of any one race, religion, or other group , in America.
This specifically addresses, current laungauge used for recognizing
Native Americans, whereas the claim of being a Native American, who has to “register “ in order to receive the same benefits as other American residents, does not support the concept in which American was founded, disallowing the right to function and flurish
