The new building for the Palmer Museum of Art is nearing the end of construction and will open to the public in spring 2024. Located on Bigler Road at the Arboretum at Penn State, the new state-of-the-art facility will replace the 51-year home on Curtin Road. The much larger building will feature first-time education and study spaces, flexible event spaces, and nearly twice as much gallery space, allowing for expanded student, faculty, and public access to Penn State’s growing collection of 10,500 works of art. With its world-class collection and programs, the free-admission Museum will be a welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant forum for authentic arts experiences, cultivating meaningful dialogue about today’s most potent ideas and pressing concerns.

Wrap up the day at 6 p.m. in the Benjamin and Lilian K. Snowiss Impressionism Gallery with Palmer intern Cami. Bringing her love of yoga, art, and healing, Cami will guide a simple mindfulness activity that gives you space to pause, recharge, and take in the museum in a whole new way.

Join us at 5 p.m. in the Ned A. Brokloff Post-war Gallery with a special performance led by creative-intern-in-residence Gillian and dancers from Nittany Ballet. Their choreography takes its cues from the museum and its collections, so the art on the walls becomes part of the show.

🖼️Last week, we had the honor of hosting Ryan RedCorn for the installation of his photographic work "Lakota Harden," a lunch with members of the Indigenous People's Student Alliance and Indigenous Faculty Staff Alliance, and an artist talk. It was a privilege to work alongside him as this monumental work came to life at the Palmer.

📷 Ryan RedCorn is an Osage photographer, filmmaker, graphic designer, and comedian. He was a writer, story editor, and actor on FX’s critically acclaimed "Reservation Dogs," and his photographic work is now part of the Palmer’s permanent collection.

🎤Stay tuned for an upcoming interview with Ryan, where we’ll learn more about his work and why, when asked about a piece coming to the Palmer, he chose "Lakota Harden."
