Let the "Meet the Artist" train keep chugging along! Let's meet our next juried artist participating in the GSLA Juried Artists Exhibit at Artisans in The LOOP! Let's meet photographer Greg Kluempers!
Let's learn more about Greg and his amazing photography.
I started developing my style in 1970 when I bought my first 35mm camera and attended several photography and art classes at FVCC. This early work was black-and-white darkroom photography. I was in my first show in 1972.
While working full time as an engineer, I returned to Florissant Valley at night in 1999 and completed an associate degree in Photography in June, 2006. During this time, I learned to process color prints in the darkroom, started scanning my film, and learned Photoshop to process my scans. In 2008, I purchased my first Canon digital camera, and since then I have used only digital. In 2013, I switched over to Sony, and I am now using a Sony a7R III. In 2014, I retired and started traveling and doing photography full time.
Around 2007, I began entering various juried art events. I have been a member of Art St. Louis for over 15 years, and I am frequently selected for their juried shows. Three of my images that I entered in the St. Louis 250 Year Sheldon/Beacon photography competition were accepted and exhibited at the Sheldon and published in the companion book project “St. Louis at 250.
I am a juried member of Greater St. Louis Artists and Best of Missouri Hands. I have been juried into several shows/fairs throughout the St. Louis area, including: Queeny Art Fair, Art Outside, Art and Air, Faust Park, Open Studio - Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis Artist Guild, Soulard Art Gallery, Gateway Gallery, Florissant Valley CC, Meramec CC, St. Charles CC, The Foundry in St. Charles, Historic Shaw Art Fair, and Framations Art Gallery. My work is available at Missouri Artist on Main in St. Charles and is displayed at numerous businesses in the St. Louis area.
Remember to stop by Artisans in The LOOP to see Greg's pieces along with our other GSLA Juried Artists and the resident artists of this great gallery. There are just so many talented people to meet and art to see. Come on over!
