The Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum is the only museum dedicated to the preservation, study, production and printing of wood type. In addition to wood type, the Museum is home to an amazing array of advertising cuts from the 193

0s through the 1970s, and all of the equipment necessary to make wood type and print with it, as well as equipment used in the production of hot metal type, tools of the craft and rare type specimen catalogs. Hamilton staff host educational demonstrations, field trips, workshops and offer opportunities for artists, printers, historians and other scholars to experiment with this vast wood type collection. Self guided tours are available anytime during our regular business hours. Please contact the museum at [email protected] or (920) 794-6272 for more information or to schedule a group visit.

We celebrate type cutters! As Women’s History Month is coming to a close Hamilton wants to honor multiple generations of working women. Mardell Doubek worked at Hamilton Manufacturing and then HWT from 1968 until 1990 first as an upholsterer, then type cutter. She began volunteering at the museum shortly after it opened in 1999, demonstrating the operation of Hamilton's original pantographs. She has passed on her knowledge of this craft to the next generation of type cutters in Georgianna Liesch. Currently George is sharing her knowledge of this trade with her daughter Maggie.

We're accepting applications for a Program and Education Coordinator (Part-Time) and Welcome Desk Assistant (Part-Time)

The Program & Education Coordinator leads the creation and delivery of onsite educational programming, including public classes, private workshops, tours, and live printing demonstrations. This role combines curriculum development, hands-on instruction, program logistics, database management, and participant communication. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and comfortable working in an active studio environment while engaging diverse audiences. Weekend availability is required.

The Welcome Desk Assistant is a crucial position at the museum as it is typically the first point of contact and often the first and last experience a visitor at the museum has. This position is key to providing an exceptional experience to all visitors. We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to the museum through welcoming visitors and guiding their experience with clear information and friendly assistance. The Welcome Desk Staff oversees the Museum’s front desk and Dry Goods Store gift shop while on duty. Weekend availability is required.
