At the time of King George surveyors noted a rock formation. They referred to it as Split Rock. If you hike the Split Rock river trail in northeastern Minnesota you can see it yourself. That rock formation was my inspiration for a new piece. A monolith entitled "Divided". It's made of carbon sheet steel and stainless steel. I chose a rust patina for the carbon steel and a brilliant finish for the stainless steel. It measures 5' tall, 18" wide and 5" deep. It will be on display at the Cross River Heritage Center June-August. The following photos show the work in process.

This Saturday the 20th will be my last day for regular gallery hours 10-5 for this year. I will still be available by appointment. Next spring I'll resume regular hours at the gallery. I hope to be occasionally posting some new works from the forge throughout the winter.
