Our exhibitions are always free and open to the public. The GumTree Museum of Art was established as a non-profit corporation in 1982. Since 1985, the GumTree Museum, a public visual arts gallery, has maintained a high standard of visual art for its members and the public, and serves as an educational institution for the visual arts. Through the highest quality exhibitions, workshops, lectures, an
d other activities, the Museum has established itself as a center for the promotion of the visual arts and an important cultural asset to the state of Mississippi. Much emphasis is placed upon the importance of education through hands-on workshops for children and adults. The original Peoples Bank & Trust Company building, located in downtown Tupelo, has housed the GumTree Museum of Art since February 1985. The Beaux Arts-style building was built between 1904 and 1905, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
