This weekend, a fire broke out just outside the walls of Tucson Botanical Gardens, damaging several of our mature yuccas. It’s upsetting and disheartening for our staff, neighbors and supporters to see this happen.

But a few damaged plants will not change who we are or what Tucson Botanical Gardens represents: a place of wonder in the midst of real life. A place where anyone can walk through the gates and find nature, art, and a warm welcome. Because real life grows here — and so do connection, resilience and community. That matters even more in the heart of a city.

We love this Garden. Our staff loves it. Our visitors love it. Our neighbors love it. 💚

And we still believe, perhaps today more than ever, that good things grow at Grant and Alvernon.

NEW EXHIBIT: PORTAL: CROSSING OVER 🌵💫featuring the talented

Think: desert textures, cosmic energy, and the boundary between earth and imagination. David Adix's new series transforms oil pastel and baltic birch into portals—inspired by the cactus, trees, and landscape that shaped his formalist eye. see how a self-taught artist translates the desert you know into something you've never seen before.

Ready to cross over? The Portal opens here at the gardens this Friday 5pm-7pm ✨

About the artist: David's journey started with collage and found materials, evolved into his signature sculptural Native Figures inspired by Giacometti, and now arrives here—a self-taught formalist who sees what the rest of us miss in the desert. his restless eye for landscape led him to oil pastels, and the results are unmissable. this is the work of someone who refused to follow a traditional path and made something entirely his own.
