Some little reindeer from Pike County Elementary School wandered in today and sang us a song. Actually, they spent the day delivering gifts and serenading seniors, so we were pretty lucky to be their final stop for the day! Such good citizens and artists. Pike County Schools - Alabama
Our Monday Center Stagers!
Center Stagers Monday’s group ended the semester with a short venture into Junie B. Jones, the Musical. The performance was given to an audience of parents and family members. Great work, kids and teachers!

Christmas at the Center 2022 is about to kick off at 6pm! There are still dinner/dance tickets available at the door. Also, it’s your last chance to get a chance at the 1903 gold coin! We will sell chances right up to the time of drawing tonight. Plenty of artworks and gift options are on display at the Center (until 7). We are looking forward to a fun event tonight with catering from Velma’s and live music from the Blues Factor Band.
We are so grateful to the many local businesses who donated items to sell in order to support the Johnson Center’s mission. Just a few samples. Come in and finish your Christmas list with us! Thank you to all!

This beautiful gold coin is going to be raffled off to a very lucky participant on December 10th, that’s THIS Saturday at our Christmas at the Center event. The price of a raffle ticket is $25 and you do not need to be present to win.
We’ve got a ‘Christmas Memory Tree’ that is looking kinda sparse over here at the Johnson Center! If you have a vintage ornament or decoration to share, we would love to display it through Christmas and you can return to pick it up. Tell us any special memory that you have of your item.

Today is Giving Tuesday. Did you know that our museum is free and open to the public, and that we sponsor many activities in both visual and performing arts for hundreds of children, and events for adults, in our community? Many individuals and families have already remembered the Johnson Center for the Arts through memberships. Several local businesses and artists support us through donations and sponsorships, such as for the upcoming Christmas at the Center. The Iron Bowl may be over, but Mike Benton’s work is here through the end of December! This is just one of his wonderful paintings.
We have a very special raffle going on at the Center. Donate $25 to receive a chance to win a 1903 gold coin. Originally worth ten dollars, it’s value is now $2200! The drawing will take place on December 10th. Chances are looking excellent. Spread the word, all proceeds go to the Johnson Center to continue our efforts in bringing quality exhibitions to our community and promoting the arts. Thank you!

Art the Size of a Dollar Bill Art Awards. Thank you for everyone who came out to the student awards tonight! So proud of the amazing show at the Johnson Center! I really think it is important to have art shows where we can celebrate student artists! I think it is also important for art teachers to show off to parents and the community all of the wonderful things they are doing in their programs! Our children can only experience the opportunities we give them.
If you haven’t seen the art show, it is open Monday-Friday from 10:00-5:00 until November 3. Thanks again for the Troy Bank & Trust sponsorship.

Jason Tanner Young has spent the day assembling his unique sculptures for opening date on Wednesday. He works with wood, found metal objects, and his own alloys and skill in welding to create his pieces. Mark your calendars for Next Thursday night, October 13th at 6 pm for the artist’s reception to see the exhibit and meet the artist!
Jason Tanner Young will be installing his artwork in the main level galleries on Monday, October 3. To meet this amazing artist, plan to join us for his opening reception on Thursday, October 13 from 6-7:30.
