According to IMDb. When the government replaced the tombstones at Arlington National Cemetery, tombstones of Medal of Honor recipients were embossed in gold leaf, but Murphy's family requested that the "Medal of Honor" on his tombstone remain plain, as he would have wanted. His is the second most-visited grave at Arlington, after John F. Kennedy's.

Movie star and award-winning actor, award-winning author of four books to date and celebrity radio show host Michael Dante co-starred with Audie Murphy in two of his films, Apache Rifles
and Arizona Raiders. They were planning a third movie together when Audie was killed in a plane crash in 1971 at the age of 45. Michael Dante starred, playing the title role, in the western
Winterhawk and has starred, co-starred and appeared in over 30 films and 150 TV shows including Star Trek, Bonanza, Maverick, Death Valley Days and Cheyenne and his films, Westbound with Randolph Scott and Kid Galahad with Elvis Presley, Seven Thieves and The Naked Kiss, just to name a few. Audie Murphy was Mr. Dante’s hero, on and off the screen. Michael Dante is a friend of our Chairman William Gray, assisted in the formal dedication of the
Museum in Sept. 2021, and the official spokesperson for our non-profit corporation.
Mr. Dante and his wife Mary Jane have expressed interest in donating their personal collection of western memorabilia to start the Michael Dante Western Museum which would be co-located
with our Audie Murphy and Medal of Honor Museum in the larger facility. By combining these two museums, the need for the 12,000 sf Bella Union is a necessity for the growth that our board
of directors’ desires.
We are a new non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Arizona. Previously operating as a sole proprietorship. Operationally the museum has 4 revenue streams: VISITOR
ENTERANCE FEES, GIFT STORE SALES, DONATIONS and our EBAY STORE.
We are seeking grants and donations for the acquisition of the larger building, modification expenses for the interior, repairs to this old building, as it was originally built in the 1880's and
incidental costs to be determined. The look and feel of the Bella Union are the atmosphere we desire to continue keeping the old west alive in Tombstone, Arizona and paying tribute to those
whose accomplishments will live there in perpetuity.
Your consideration will be greatly appreciated and will be applied to what we have planned including more educational seminars to be presented with the normal museum operations running concurrently. According to Wikipedia: When the 3rd Infantry landed at Licata, Sicily, on 10 July, Murphy was a division runner.[31][32] On a scouting patrol, he killed two fleeing Italian officers near Canicattì.[33] Sidelined with illness for a week when Company B arrived in Palermo on 20 July,[34] he rejoined them when they were assigned to a hillside location protecting a machine-gun emplacement, while the rest of the 3rd Infantry Division fought at San Fratello en route to the Allied capture of the transit port of Messina.[35]

According to Wikipedia:

At the end of World War II, the 36th Infantry Division reverted to state control as part of the Texas Army National Guard,[109] and Murphy's friends, Major General H. Miller Ainsworth and Brigadier General Carl L. Phinney, were the 36th's commander and deputy commander respectively. After 25 June 1950 commencement of the Korean War, Murphy began a second military career and was commissioned as a captain in the 36th Infantry Division of the Texas Army National Guard.[110][111] He drilled new recruits in the summer training camps, and granted the Guard permission to use his name and image in recruiting materials.[112] Although he wanted to join the fighting and juggled training activities with his film career, the 36th Infantry Division was never sent to Korea.[113][114]

At his request, he transferred to inactive status on 1 October 1951 because of his film commitments with MGM Studios, and returned to active status in 1955. Murphy was promoted to the rank of major by the Texas Army National Guard in 1956 and returned to inactive status in 1957.[115] In 1969, his official separation from the Guard transferred him to the United States Army Reserve.[116] He remained with the USAR until his transfer to the Retired Reserve in 1969.[117]
