V-E Day and commemorating World War II: Fighting in World War II formally came to an end in Europe 75 years ago on May 8, 1945, when Germany surrendered. Global commemorations are subdued this year unfortunately. This was a big day for my parents as my dad served from 1941 to t945 the end of the war in Europe and North Africa. Thank you to the Greatest Generation who saved the world and made America great.

THE RACE TO THE MOON -Larry Sheckel will present a program on the U.S. Apollo program on Saturday
July 20th @ 1:00 P.M.
Larry Scheckel, retired Tomah High School Physics teacher, will present a program commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo program and Americans landing on the Moon. His PowerPoint presentation will be followed by a discussion, This will be at the new Tomah Historical Society Museum at 321 Superior Ave. (formerly the Shutter grocery building).
Scheckel will take us through the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo program with emphasis on “Whatever happened to those guys that walked on the Moon.” How did they fulfill President Kennedy’s vision of “putting a man on the Moon and returning him safety to Earth before the end of the decade.”

This program resulted in the selection of Christa McAuliffe to be part of the Space Shuttle Challenger crew in January 1986. Light refreshments will be served. thanks to all who made out Brat, bake and rummage sale a great big success. We sold out of Brats and hot dogs. The bake sale was almost a sell out and the rummage had little left. What a great start to our building fund. Thanks again.
