Thank you to John Dekhane of Monoco, an avid military artifact collector, who donated a set of US dog tags to the Tolland Military Museum. John stated he acquired the tags in a Normandy military shop and “It is very important to me that WWII US items find their way back to the United States. Murray J. Freedman, born in 1922 in New Haven, CT and enlisted on 6 Mar 1943 in Fort Devens Massachusetts.
Stop in today from 11am -3 pm to see this display. The museum is filled with stories, and we must never forget the sacrifices so many made.

In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. The United States Army also celebrates the U.S. Army birthday on this date; Congress adopted "the American continental army after reaching a consensus position in the Committee of the Whole on June 14, 1775.

Tolland Military Museum’s mission is to tell the story. Today in honor of D-day we highlight Robert Evers, a US Marine who earned a Silver Star and Purple Heart for his efforts in defending his country. Robert’s story was submitted by Robert Willis. Lets continue to tell the stories. We shall never forget the sacrifices they have made.
