We had good attendance at The Leon and Rachel Gathany Museum of Natural History today June 6 as we had over 40 visitors. Five children participated in the scavenger hunt and received a reward for completing the hunt.

The scavenger hunt is 20 questions that are answered by touring the museum, reading the display information and writing the answers. The exercise is fun and improves reading, writing and scientific information. A museum medallion is awarded to those children who complete an age appropriate number of questions.

We still need volunteers this summer. Please contact Richard Gathany at (404) 273-6880 or [email protected] for additional information.

Hello:
This is Richard Gathany with The Leon and Rachel Gathany Museum of Natural History at Toccoa Falls College. I am reaching out to you for assistance with a special need that you may able to help.

Our plan has been to open the Museum to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 noon until 4:00 pm. We have been successful in meeting that goal during the Fall and Spring semesters with student volunteers from TFC. But now that the students have left for the summer we are in need of volunteers to keep the Museum open.

Sometime ago you indicated that you could volunteer for a session. Due to my illness I did not follow through with scheduling you for a 2 or 4 hour shift at the Museum. If you could volunteer we welcome your participation. The procedures for opening and closing the museum are well documented and orientation for volunteers is scheduled for June 6 at 2:00pm.

For additional information contact Richard Gathany at (404) 273-6880 or [email protected]
