ABAC's Georgia Museum of Agriculture

ABAC's Georgia Museum of Agriculture Explore the farm. Listen to the barnyard sounds. See bacon and ham curing in the smokehouse and preserved vegetables in the canning shed.

Founded in 1976, ABAC’s Georgia Museum of Agriculture preserves and celebrates Georgia’s farming heritage through immersive exhibits, historic demonstrations, and educational experiences for all ages. Experience everyday 19th century-style farm-like activities, from planting and harvesting to cooking, spinning, quilt making, and more. All structures have authentic furnishings of the period. Friend

ly staff members share the history as they perform daily activities - whether in farmhouses, fields, sawmill, turpentine still, school house, blacksmith's shop, or the grist mill. Stroll up Main Street to the Feed and Seed store, the print shop and drug store. Georgia's Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village opened as the Agrirama on July 4th, 1976. Over 35 structures have been relocated to the 95 acre site and faithfully restored and preserved. Costumed interpreters explain and demonstrate the life-style and activities of this time in Georgia's history. The Georgia Museum of Agriculture Vulcan Iron Works Steam Locomotive is the only steam powered train in regular operation in the State of Georgia. The grounds consist of six areas:
The Museum of Agriculture
1870s farm community
1890s progressive farmstead
Industrial sites complex
Rural town
National Peanut museum

Join us at the GMA Gallery's newest pop-up, Art Within the Sciences! This collaboration with ABAC's Upward Bound program celebrates 80+ works by 37 UB students this summer.

Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO program designed to support high school students from underserved backgrounds in preparing for college. Through academic enrichment, college exposure, and personalized support, the program helps students develop the skills and confidence needed to enroll in and succeed in higher education.

Among all the college-enrollment-focused activities the students have participated in this summer, this special art class has offered them the opportunity to engage with artwork in the scientific field. Animal adaptations, symmetry, and pigmentation are present in both art and science. Students, inspired by field trips and lessons, have made scientific observations, viewed them with an artistic eye, and created art based on those experiences.
Today, this portion of the program culminated in an art exhibit opening for those students, on display at ABAC's Georgia Museum of Agriculture.

We invite you to visit the exhibition between June 17 and July 1 to see the stunning pieces.
