Monocacy River Pottery

Monocacy River Pottery Monocacy River Pottery has two manabigama kilns and a large 3 chamber naboragama kiln on site with Jim Dugan managing the firings.

Monocacy River Pottery is beginning to reopen its doors to artists and art lovers of beautiful wood fired pottery. A new wood kiln manager, Jim Dugan, has joined with owner Marsha Mason to reignite the flames of wood kilns past and bring about new life to Monocacy River Pottery. Jim has 10+ years of experience with firing, building and repairing wood kilns, soda kilns and gas kilns alike. The pott

ery is now offering various ways to participate in the wood firing process. The pottery is home to 3 wood kilns: one 3 chamber noborigama and 2 manabigamas. At this time, the 3 chamber noborigama is available to rent for a group of potters or as individual shares in what we call a "Community Firing". Firings for the noborigama will occur up to once a month. In addition, the pottery will be renting the medium sized manabigama to smaller groups of potters or individuals. This kiln can be rented out more frequently as it's size requires less labor and time. We are also beginning work on revamping the studio space and the gallery space. It is our goal in the future to hold workshops and classes and to have a beautiful space to showcase different artists from the area and (hopefully) the country. If you have questions about renting space in one of the kilns, prices, schedules, etc. please contact Marsha Mason or Jim Dugan.
