Through generous donors, we have been able to purchase new gear to allow us to conduct video oral history interviews and film throughout the state! Our summer of filmmaking is officially underway!

The Riverlands Jewish Archive in WKU's Department of History is seeking interns to help produce 100 Years Since Bernheim, a feature-length documentary exploring more than a century of Jewish history in western Kentucky. ✨ Riverlands Jewish Archive

We're looking for students interested in:
🎙️ Documentary Narration – Assist with writing, editing, and recording narration for the film.
🎬 Film/Video Editing – Help bring the documentary to life through editing and post-production.
🎧 Audio Mixing – Shape the sound of the documentary using industry-standard editing software.

This is a unique opportunity to gain real-world production experience while preserving and sharing the stories of our region's rich history. 🤩

Starting in July, we will embarking on a multi-week research trip across western Kentucky with to work on the documentary 100 Years Since Bernheim, a look at the Jewish history of western Kentucky in the hundred years since I.W. Bernheim published his seminal work, The History of Jewish Settlement in Paducah and the Lower Ohio Valley. We will be filming, capturing photography, scanning archival materials, and conducting oral history interviews beginning July 1. Our tour of the state includes Paducah, Henderson, Hopkinsville, Owensboro, Lexington, Louisville, Elizabethtown, and Bowling Green.

As we prepare to embark on our summer research and filming for our 100 Years Since Bernheim with , I am happy to share our new funding postcards. As we grow, there are countless opportunities for people to donate, get involved, and help ensure the future of Jewish Studies at ! It has been a thrill to build this over the past 3 years and am excited for what is coming down the pipe this summer and the next year!
