🏆 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: Sarah Pease – South Central (Elizabeth) High School

From a standout high school career in Southern Indiana to competing on the national and international stage, Sarah Pease has built one of the most impressive resumes in Indiana track & field history.

A 16-time conference champion and state qualifier, Sarah continued her success at Indiana University, becoming a 3-time All-American and Big Ten Champion in the steeplechase.

She set the Indiana record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:40.94, competed in four U.S. Olympic Trials, and proudly represented Team USA in international competition.

Today, she continues to impact the sport as the head coach at Ohio University.

We are proud to honor Sarah Pease as part of the 2026 Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame Class.

🏅 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: Walter “Dutch” Thurston – Mishawaka High School

A true giant of Indiana high school athletics.

Walter “Dutch” Thurston dedicated his life to education, coaching, and service. As track coach at Mishawaka High School, he guided his teams to nine sectional championships in ten years and led Mishawaka to a 1946 IHSAA Cross Country co-championship alongside Anderson.

Beyond coaching, Dutch served as a teacher, principal, and respected official, working state finals in three different sports throughout his remarkable career.

His impact on generations of student-athletes and Indiana athletics continues to be felt today.

We are proud to honor Walter “Dutch” Thurston as part of the 2026 Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame Class.

🏅 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: Coach Julie Alano – Hamilton Southeastern High School

One of Indiana’s most accomplished coaches, Julie Alano has spent more than two decades building a championship tradition at Hamilton Southeastern.

During her 20 years as head girls track & field coach, she led the Royals to 13 sectional championships, 10 regional championships, a state championship, and multiple state runner-up finishes.

Her athletes have earned numerous state titles, All-American honors, and national recognition, while Julie has served as a leader and mentor throughout Indiana track & field.

We are proud to honor Coach Julie Alano as part of the 2026 Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame Class.

🏆 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: 1973 White’s Institute 4x440 Relay Team

“The Miracle at the Tute”

With just 12 team members and no traditional track facility to train on, White’s Institute produced one of the greatest underdog stories in Indiana track & field history.

James Brashers, Elix Brewer, John Maggott, and Mike McDonald shocked the state by winning the 1973 IHSAA State Championship in the 4x440 relay, running an incredible 3:22.2.

Their determination, teamwork, and perseverance proved that greatness can come from anywhere.

We are proud to honor this legendary relay team as part of the Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

🏅 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee: Charlie Koeppen – Carmel High School

Son of legendary coach Charles Koeppen, Charlie was a standout distance runner who helped Carmel to strong state finishes and won the IHSAA 3200m state title as a junior.

Charlie continued his running career at Northern Arizona and Indiana University, competing in multiple NCAA Cross Country Championships before serving in the U.S. Army, where he continues to serve today as a Staff Sergeant.

A true Hoosier runner and soldier, we are proud to honor Charlie Koeppen as part of the 2026 Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame class.

🏅 2026 Indiana Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame Inductee: Jimm Stack

Jimm Stack’s pole vault journey started in 7th grade with a borrowed purple-and-gold pole, a homemade backyard setup, and a dream.

By age 14, he had already set a national age-group record of 14-6. He went on to become an Indiana state champion, a high school All-American, and later a Big Ten champion at Indiana University with a personal best of 17-10½.

From coaching internationally in Indonesia and Ecuador to years spent teaching and coaching in Boulder, Jimm has dedicated his life to the sport of track & field.
