🇺🇸 Honoring Temple City’s Hometown Heroes

The City of Temple City is proud to launch its Blue Star Banner Program, recognizing Temple City residents and their immediate family members who are currently serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Banners featuring each service member’s name, military branch and rank will be proudly displayed along Temple City Blvd. as a lasting symbol of their courage, dedication and sacrifice.

🎖️ Program Highlights:
• Open to active-duty service members who are Temple City residents or have an immediate family member who is a resident
• Includes the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Space Force, National Guard and Reserves
• Banners remain displayed while the service member is active duty, or for 2–3 years based on banner life expectancy
• Through June 2027, the first 25 banners will be provided at no cost

This photo was sent to us by John Culea. In 1955 he plays for the Optimists of Temple City American Little League. The team was coached by a husband and wife team, William and Julia Schuelke. William played semi-pro baseball for the Redbirds at Arcadia Park. Julia was a professional softball player. Their son Billy also played on the team as a pitcher and shortstop.
