Join us on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for the opening of our youth pop-up exhibit, “My Light, My Mountains”, at Haus of Taylor Gallery.

We’re turning this special gallery opening into A Summer Mountain Picnic, a fun and creative reception celebrating our young artists and the way they see the mountains, nature, light, home, and imagination.

Guests can enjoy the youth art exhibit, artist cards, certificates of participation, awards, picnic-style treats, and a build-your-own trail mix station made for little artists, families, and mountain-day memories.

This one-day exhibit is all about giving young creatives their own gallery moment.

Walk the artistic display, cheer on our participating youth artists, and help us make this a joyful afternoon for these rising artisans on Historic Main Street.

Art is more than what hangs on your wall.
Sometimes, art is the room you wake up in!

It is the mountain view outside your window, the quiet of rural Virginia, the texture of an old Main Street building brought back to life, and the feeling that every detail was chosen with purpose.

At Haus of Taylor and Ruakh, we believe an overnight stay can be more than a place to sleep. It can be an experience shaped by design, comfort, craftsmanship, sustainability, and place.

Experience, The Farmhouse Suite at Haus of Taylor, located at 113 Fincastle Main Street in Historic Tazewell, Virginia, where art, history, and Main Street life come together in the heart of town.

Or escape to The Starlite Dome at Ruakh, a rustic luxury geodesic dome tucked into the rolling beauty of Tazewell County. Surrounded by open sky, farmland, and mountain views, it offers a different kind of luxury.

One rooted in stillness, intention, and connection to the land.
This is rural Virginia reimagined.
Not polished until it loses its soul.
Not ordinary.
Not mass-produced.

Just thoughtful spaces, meaningful stays, and experiences that remind you that art can be lived in, slept in, walked through, and felt.

Experience Tazewell County, Virginia, in the heart of Southwest Virginia.
Virginia’s Best Kept Secret is waiting.

Now exhibiting at Haus of Taylor for “Light in the Hollows”, the beautiful collaborative work of Susan Melkowski and Doris Peters, the creative duo behind “Two Art Chicks”.

Blending storytelling, texture, color, and Appalachian soul, their needle-felted sculptures and expressive paintings capture the warmth, whimsy, and natural beauty of our mountain region.

Inspired by wildlife, nature, and life in the valleys and hills of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee, each handcrafted piece reflects friendship, creativity, and a deep connection to place.

From layered wool sculptures to vibrant mixed-media works, their art invites viewers to slow down, smile, and experience the joy of handmade artistry.

Come experience, and support “Light in the Hollows” and discover the heartfelt work of these talented regional artists at Haus of Taylor in downtown Tazewell, Virginia.

In the quiet folds of these Appalachian mountains, Memorial Day carries a deeper echo.

It lives in the stillness of old flags moving gently above front porches, in the winding roads that lead home, and in the names remembered softly across generations here in Tazewell, County.

At Haus of Taylor, we’re reflecting on the beauty of small-town America, where freedom is felt in simple things: the warmth of community, the rhythm of church bells, the blue haze over the mountains at dusk, and the privilege of gathering together in peace.

Today, we honor the souls who gave their lives for those freedoms. Their sacrifice is woven into the fabric of towns like ours, resilient, humble, and enduring.

May we remember them not only in grief, but in gratitude for every ordinary moment made possible because of their courage.
