This edition of "Tales of Taylor" includes stories from three storytellers. First is Marcie Svatek, who tells of the romance between Dan'l Moody and Nancy "Nannie" Robertson as told through letters they exchanged in the late 1800s. The second speaker Krystal Young tells the story of Middleweight Wrestling Champion "Pet" Brown who died tragically while working in East Texas. The third speaker is Jesse Ancira sharing the story of the creation of Ancira's Salsa, a local brand created by his parents and now distributed through numerous grocery stores including HEB.

Last night’s Tales of Taylor was a big success. Despite the rain, we had a nice group who came to learn a little of Taylor’s history from long ago.

Special thanks to the Ancira family who shared their story and some salsa. It was delicious and their’s is a true hometown success story.

There are only a few days left to enjoy the traveling Smithsonian Exhibit here in Taylor. The last day is this coming Saturday. This once in a lifetime experience is located at the Heidenheimer Building at 209 East 1st Street, across from the Amtrak Depot.

The Moody hosted a group of ladies for an afternoon tea today. A ladies tea is very much in line with the type of activities the Moody ladies would have hosted back in their day.
