Taylor Museum of History The Taylor Museum of History is dedicated to preserving and exhibiting the history of Taylor, WI. Open during the summer months, April through November.

Located in the old Taylor Grade School building on the first floor. Admission is free.

COW SURFING
Surfing became a wildly popular sport in the 1960’s on the beaches of California. In the midwest, without oceans, the only waves to catch are “amber waves of grain”. It is here, in Wisconsin, that the sport of Cow Surfing originated. In the era before the internet, rural youth learned to entertain themselves. This photo of Bob Strande demonstrating his cow surfing technique was taken on his Taylor, Wisconsin farm in the early 1960’s. Maybe this is where the catchphrase: “cowabunga dude” came from!
