Taneytown History Museum The Museum provides for the care of historical artifacts to ensure that these pieces are available to future generations. We bring in artists too!

The Taneytown History Museum is located in Taneytown Maryland at 340 East Baltimore Street. We are a great collection of Taneytown and surrounding history, keeping Taneytown's history alive. The museum is open from April through October each year, typically Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as for special events. We are at the intersection of 140 (Baltimore Street) and Baumgardner Avenue.

HISTORY IS BLOOMING at TANEYTOWN HISTORY MUSEUM. Preview was Thursday evening October 15th. The Silver Fancy Garden Club members created original fresh floral arrangements inspired by works of art and historic artifacts in the museum collection. These arrangements will be available for viewing Friday, October 16th, 10 am- 1 pm and Saturday October 17th, 1-4 pm.

The museum will be open Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th from 1-4 p.m. Stop in to see the 250th exhibit before the museum closes in November.

Taneytown Heritage & Museum Association public meeting Monday, September 28th, 7:00 pm at Grace United Church of Christ, Parish Hall, 49 W Baltimore Street, Taneytown, Maryland.
Brief announcements followed by guest speaker, Elaine Shirley, Curator, Carroll County Farm Museum. She will be speaking on prohibition and the temperance movement. Elaine grew up in Carroll County and was employed for 35 years in Colonial Williamsburg. Parking available in back of the church with handicap entrance and parking on the east side. There will be time for questions and to meet with the speaker. Light refreshments will be available.

Sincerely thank the many ‘One More Round for George’ golf tournament sponsors, contributors and golfers on September 18, 2026. Monies raised from this tournament help with maintaining the History Museum building, costs of exhibits, speakers at Heritage meetings, and much more.
