Art of Possibility - Sculptures by Noah Deledda My name is Noah Deledda and I make sculptures by crushing empty aluminum cans Most people wonder "How?" when they see my sculptures.

The name 'Crushing Can Be Creative' puts it in words. I begin by stripping a 23 oz. can to a polished surface then I crush them by pressing dents onto the can with my thumbs. This explanation leaves room for skepticism and curiosity, but it really is that simple. Although I have made art in many different media and style, my approach always began with basic shapes in mind. From the proportions of realism to the balance and composition of the abstract, simple geometry guided my expression. However, no artistic concept seems as natural to me than the art of crushing. It's unique, but made from a common object and it creates by means of destruction, forming complexity from simplicity. It began in 2005 after squeezing an empty Red Bull can. I was bored on a road trip and I noticed the dents could be manipulated. Curious, I began to explore. The more I practiced, the more the concept progressed. It soon became a casual exercise like coffee and a crossword puzzle. In 2010 it was recognized by Red Bull as the winner of the international Art of Can competition. I kept developing the art of crushing for the next two years until I decided in 2012 to make 'Crushing Can Be Creative' my main artistic focus.
