West Georgia Museum The West Georgia Museum is a showcase of local history. It contains exhibits of mock stores highlighting the heritage of the area.

The West Georgia Museum has many amazing items from Prehistoric times to modern day. It has dinosaurs, saber tooth tigers, bears, buffalo, and many more. Come and find out the history of Tallapoosa like the Lithia Hotel and all the old town places like the dentist office, doctors office, and old shoe store. Sharing a bit of local history on a treasured past citizen of Tallapoosa, Mrs. Betty Jo Newman. Mrs. Betty Jo was, (among many other things) a local historian and the very first curator of West Georgia Museum . These photos show when she was crowned queen at Tallapoosa's Centennial Celebration, back in 1960. Reportedly 10,000 people came to town to enjoy all of the festivities.We've been busy sprucing up her exhibit today giving her a pink showcase fit for a queen. ❤️
