Research Spotlight: Audrey Jacobs
Ph.D Candidate, Museum Education and Visitor-Centered Curation

Doctoral Candidate Audrey Jacobs is working to bring schools and museum in closer sync with one another.

Jacobs writes:

“I came into the museum ed profession in a museum housed (very unusually!) on a K-12 school campus. Before this, I had studied school–museum collaboration, and this experience allowed me to delve deeper into the possibilities. My dissertation (and this portion of the exhibition) explores a type of school (called a museum school) that integrates museums into its curricula. Visitors can add people, places, things, values, processes, and feelings to this diagram to help me visualize the possibilities for museums and schools to create learning together. And you—will you comment below about how you think museums and schools could make learning happen together?”

Celebrating the creativity and resilience of refugee women from Afghanistan, Congo, Syria and Sudan, “Journey of Memories” showcases artwork that reflects cherished memories of home, the strength found in their journeys, and the hope guiding their futures.
Through vibrant handcrafted pieces, the exhibition highlights the power of art to connect cultures, share stories, and inspire new beginnings. Journey of Memories invites audiences to experience not only the challenges of migration, but also the beauty courage and imagination these women carry with them.

The gallery will be open until 5pm today, so make sure to stop by and see the show!
