Heritage Hall Jemison-Carnegie Heritage Hall provides experiences of excellence in both the arts and humanities.

In Talladega where antebellum homes abound, a surprising jewel of the City for art and history lovers is Jemison-Carnegie Heritage Hall. This elegant building, built in 1906 was originally the Talladega Public Library, a product of Andrew Carnegie's nationwide library construction program.

Day/Time/Duration: Mondays, 6:30 – 8:00 PM, 90 minutes

Location: Gadsden Museum of Art

Level: Beginning Watercolor

Group size: 12

Duration: 6 Weeks

Age: 16+

Price: $30 per day or $150 for full six weeks

Description: Learn to paint with watercolor with artist Bryce Lafferty. During this six-week beginner watercolor class, students can expect to learn about the materials, basic techniques, and simple methods for creating fresh and luminous watercolor paintings.

Paper: Arches cold press watercolor paper, 22X30 inches, 3 sheets

Brushes: Princeton Heritage Brushes, 1” flat, #3 round, #6 round, #10 round

Paint: Grumbacher Academy watercolor tubes: Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue,
Gamboge, Payne’s Grey, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Sepia, Hookers Green

Palette: medium size watercolor palette, with individual wells and a cover

Other: paper towels, hairdryer, pencil, art gum eraser.

The artwork is arriving for Spotlight on Local Arts!

We’re excited to begin welcoming the artists and their work to Heritage Hall as we prepare for our upcoming Spotlight on Local Arts exhibit!

Yesterday, Craigger Browne, sculptor from Sylacauga, Alabama, stopped by to deliver his pieces for the exhibit. We’re looking forward to sharing his work—and the work of so many talented artists from our area—with you.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing you to more of our participating artists as their artwork arrives. We have 35 local artists participating!!
