All I can say about the Vintage Base Ball game in Lincoln yesterday is that if you missed it, you REALLY missed it!

The Lincoln County Sodbusters made their very first appearance on the base ball field versus the Wichita Bullstockings, and the result was astonishing! They made us all proud by battling to a 18-18 tie in the bottom of the 9th, then finished the opponent off with a hit that scored the winning run!

The stands were nearly full of mouthy cranks who challenged calls, cheered, boo'd and otherwise were a thorn in the side of the umpire. (One Bullstockings player remarked that they had never played before a crowd that big before!) The local Boys of Base Ball were so inspired that there is talk of more games to come in this area! Let's hope so!

A sincere THANK YOU to all the players, fans and sponsors that made this a day to remember! Huzzah!

Just a reminder that the Vintage Base Ball game featuring the Lincoln County Sodbusters vs. the Wichita Cowtown team is set for this Saturday, Oct. 3, 1:00 pm at the west ballfield in Lincoln.

Could use a couple more players, so please give Terry a call at 785 524-6034. The Wichita team is bringing uniforms and equipment. Players may use rubber cleats, but no gloves. Rules are from the 1870's era, which add to the entertainment!

We're less than a month away from the Lincoln Sodbusters' Vintage Base Ball game vs. the Wichita Cowtown boys on Saturday, October 3 at Lincoln.

The Lincoln nine (or 10 or 12) will have a practice on Sunday, September 20, 1:30 pm at the West Ball Field at Lincoln. Still looking for 2-3 more players so contact Terry 785 524-6034 to sign up. This is a no gloves, wooden bat situation following 1870's rules, which will be discussed at practice.

All you base ball enthusiasts: We need "cranks" (aka fans) in the stands to support our team and heckle the opponents. Feel free to dress in period style costumes to set the stage for the game. No charge to attend, and the Finch Theater will provide refreshments.

This event is in conjunction with Lincoln County Historical Society's Founder's Day celebration on Saturday & Sunday, October 3 & 4. See their page for more info.

Looking for nine (or more) baseball players! The Lincoln County Historical Society is hosting a Vintage Base Ball Exhibition game against the Wichita's Cowtown team on Saturday, October 3, at Lincoln's West Ball Field as part of its Founder's Day celebration.

The 1 pm game will follow 1870's rules, so no gloves/cleats! Wichita is providing us uniforms, equipment and an umpire, so all we have to do is show up and play!

Please contact Terry at 785 524-6034 to get signed up to play for the Lincoln County Sodbusters. Ages 14 and up are welcome! Huzzah!

Other Founder's Day activities on Saturday include a chili cook-off, custom car cruise, and old-fashioned children's games at the Lincoln Museum.

Sunday’s schedule will include an 8 am guided bird-watching tour by Audubon of Kansas at the Achterberg Wildlife Farm. Mike Day will give a historical presentation at the Court House followed by a caravan to the Moffitt Massacre Site.
