🏠🔨 A Little More Time Under Construction!

We’re excited to share that our new roof is underway! 🎉 While the work is progressing, we’ve discovered an extensive amount of wood that needs to be repaired or replaced to make sure our historic building is safe, strong, and ready for many more years to come.

Because of the additional work, the Pioneer City County Museum will remain CLOSED through Thursday, September 3rd.

We are hopefully planning to reopen Friday, September 4th, and we’ll keep you posted if anything changes!

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we take this important step in caring for our historic museum.

A BIG thank-you to the City of Sweetwater employees for all their hard work helping make this project happen! We are so excited about our NEW ROOF! 🏠✨

Stay tuned — we’ll see you soon!

Following our 50th Anniversary Celebration, David Ragland shared these kind words with the museum. I wanted to share them—not to brag, but because they are a wonderful reflection of how far our museum has come and the pride so many people have in this special place.

“As I expressed to you last Saturday, in the 50 years since the dedication, we (the Ragland family) have never seen the interior of the Museum so clean, well-organized, and ready for an event like it was for the 50th Anniversary Celebration.

We think you are doing a wonderful job, especially with your limited resources.”

I am incredibly proud of our museum and so grateful for everyone who has supported, volunteered, worked, donated, and helped us along the way. These kind words belong to everyone who has played a part in making the Pioneer City County Museum a place our community can be proud of. ❤️

On Saturday July 25th, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Ragland house being gifted by Bobby and Georgina Ragland in 1976, to the city and county to be used as a museum. We were honored to have members of the Ragland family come and share their stories with us.
We also enjoyed music by local band Fever Pitch. Thank you to all who attended!
