A quiet winter moment by the river, with soft snow, dark winding water, and a little cabin tucked among the bare trees. I love the calm contrast between the cold landscape and the warmth the cabin seems to hold.

It may not be YOUR cup of tea, but there is a reason.

Each time I travel along the Columbia River, I find myself looking for this rocky formation again. The small group of trees along its ridge has a quiet pride about it, as if it’s simply waiting to be noticed.

The sky was clear when I took the photograph. I added texture and softened it with Gaussian blur to give the sky a wispy, painterly feel and let the formation stand out. I’m sharing it because familiar places can hold our attention in ways we don’t always stop to explain. What detail in a landscape keeps drawing you back?

Random . Certain photos just speak to me. An intentional composition at the bottom of Wildwood Falls. I found it so intriguing in black and white. Definitely a favorite of mine. A clash of texture between rock and water.

This pretty much sums it up. It may not seem like much of a process, but is. A photo for me has to say what I want it to say, and if it doesn't work? I must move on.
