A HEARTFELT THANK YOU!
I'm originally from Charleston, South Carolina, and for many years Myrtle Beach was one of my favorite destinations. I grew up loving beach music and s**g dancing. Even though I had written a number of beach songs over the years, I never pursued recording them because I never felt comfortable singing them myself. I knew my true calling was singing and sharing the Gospel through song.
For more than 30 years, I've been a registered BMI songwriter. During that time, I've written and recorded 12 Southern Gospel CDs. My gospel music has charted around the world. In 2006, I made history as the first Southern Gospel recording artist to have five songs chart simultaneously in the Top 25 in the United Kingdom, including two #1 songs.
One thing that surprises many people is that I've never had a promoter, booking agent, producer, or record company. I also can't read music or play an instrument. The Lord gives me the words and the melody, and I take those songs into the studio where talented musicians help bring them to life. Over the years, that process required a significant investment.
Then, in 2025, I discovered AI technology. For the first time, I was able to bring those beach songs to life that had been sitting in my files for years—without the enormous cost of traditional studio production. My hope was simple: to send my songs to beach music radio stations and perhaps, one day, have a well-known beach band discover my songwriting and record one of my songs.
The first song I released was my personal favorite, "Sh***in To The Memories," recorded under the name Bright Allstar Band. The song mentions eight of my favorite beach bands along with the titles of some of their biggest hits. I wrote every word of the song, while the vocals and music were AI-generated. From the very beginning, I have been completely transparent about that. Every radio station knew it was AI-generated, and my website clearly states that all Bright Allstar Band recordings feature AI-generated vocals and music, while every song is written by me.
I never imagined what would happen next. History was made again,
"Sh***in To The Memories" began climbing the beach music charts, reaching #5 on Pat Gwinn's chart, #4 on Surfside with Don Mark, #2 on John Hook's chart and as of August 6th, it has been in the charts a total of 33 weeks. I was told this was the first AI Generated song to reach this high on beach music charts.
What an incredible journey it has been!
