James and Hannah Benson Dennis were free African Americans who married five years before Abraham Lincoln was born and 59 years before the Emancipation Proclamation.

They moved from New England to Susquehanna County, PA in 1818. Their youngest son, Henry, married Angeline Perkins in 1851.

The Dennis Farm takes its name from Henry and Angeline Perkins Dennis.

Enjoy historic period re-enactors, remarks from distinguished guests, musical selections, tours of the Farm, and lite fare and refreshments as we commemorate this historic milestone.
