⏳ The countdown to our BIG Ice Cream Social announcement continues!

Does anybody remember when Fairlawn looked like this?

Before our first major restoration project in 1998, Fairlawn Mansion was covered in white siding that had been added during its years as the Superior Children’s Home. Thanks to an incredible partnership with the Jeffris Family Foundation and the generosity of supporters like you, the exterior of the mansion was fully restored to reflect its appearance during the Pattison family era.

Today, restoration work continues inside the mansion. At this year’s Ice Cream Social, we’ll be asking for your support as we move into the next phase of preserving Fairlawn. We currently have one active restoration project underway in Lois Pattison’s bedroom, with two additional rooms that we are actively fundraising to restore.

Every donation, membership purchase, and raffle ticket purchased at the Ice Cream Social helps make these important preservation projects possible. Your support ensures that Fairlawn’s stories, architecture, and history can be enjoyed by generations to come.

🍦⚾ The countdown to our BIG Ice Cream Social announcement continues!

Did you know that 100 years ago, in 1926, baseball legend Babe Ruth visited the Superior Children’s Home and Refuge Association at Fairlawn Mansion? This remarkable piece of local history is turning 100, and we’re excited to commemorate the occasion in a very special way!

At this year’s Ice Cream Social, we’ll unveil a brand-new plaque on the front steps of the mansion honoring Babe Ruth’s historic visit. You won’t want to miss this once-in-a-century celebration!

And that’s not all—we’ve created exclusive commemorative baseball caps to mark the anniversary! Make a $50 donation or sign up for a Friendship Membership at the Ice Cream Social, and you’ll receive one of these limited-edition hats while supplies last.

We’re excited to reveal part of our entertainment lineup for this year’s Ice Cream Social at Fairlawn Mansion—and trust us, there’s more fun than ever before!

🐐 Meet some adorable furry friends from Adventure Acres at our petting zoo!
⚾ Bring your glove and play some catch with members of the UW-Superior Yellowjacket Baseball Team!

🚒 Have you been to the Old Firehouse & Police Museum yet?

🚔We’ve added new exhibits and interactive features to this special site, and you won’t want to miss them! Step back in time and explore the evolution of firefighting and police work in our community while discovering some of the museum’s coolest artifacts along the way.

🧯From historic equipment and uniforms to hands-on experiences for visitors of all ages, there’s something new to see around every corner!

The Firehall is open all weekend from 12:00–4:00 PM. Stop by and see what’s new!

👀 Spot the difference! 👀

We spent some time today giving a few of Fairlawn’s props a little extra attention, including these beautiful candelabras. While they aren’t part of the museum collection, they still help bring the mansion to life for our visitors, and we like to keep them looking their best!

To care for them properly, we use a special antique silver polish developed for museum use, helping us safely restore their shine while protecting their historic appearance. ✨

A little polishing can go a long way, and we were excited to see these sparkle again.
