Presented as part of Varna International’s statewide summer Muzika! Festival, this special performance brings together music, history, and culture in the beautiful historic Temple Sinai sanctuary.

We've got some exciting news! Our Temple Sinai Jewish History Center is now open with new summer hours starting this week.

Stop by and explore Sumter's Jewish history on:

🕑 1pm to 4pm

Whether you're a first-time visitor or have been meaning to come back, summer is the perfect time to visit this beautifully preserved 1912 synagogue and discover the stories of the people who helped shape our community.

In 1776, as fighting intensified in the backcountry, Francis Salvador rushed to the Ninety-Six District to help protect the frontier families there. In July of that year, Colonel William Thomson and Francis were ambushed by a combined force of British Loyalists and Cherokee Natives at Keowee River.

He was killed there, becoming the first Jewish patriot to die in the revolution.

What a fun day to learn about Purim by playing Bingo with prizes, reading the story of Esther (noisemakers included), eating Hamantaschen, and having a costume contest!

Want to learn about Purim? Join us this Saturday, March 14, at 2 pm.
We will be playing Purim Bingo (with prizes), have a costume contest (wear your favorite costume), listen to a reading of the Megillah, and taste a traditional Purim food, hamantaschen!

This is a free event and fun for all ages!

The story of Purim is found in the biblical book of Esther. It contains the firsthand account of the events surrounding the fear, faith, and triumph of Esther and Mordechai.
The most important Purim custom is reading the Purim story from the scroll of Esther, also called the Megillah.
