CALLING ALL STORIES!
Share Your Sugar Grove Memories

Do you have a great story about Sugar Grove? A funny family tale? A favorite childhood memory? A story your grandparents told you? Maybe it’s something you’ve heard a hundred times but never thought to write down. If you have any Farmisms: Comments, phrases, or slang that were told around the farmstead? Pass them along.

Now’s the time!

The Sugar Grove Historical Society is collecting stories and memories for our archival collection, “Remembrances.”
And don’t worry, you don’t have to be a professional writer! A few paragraphs are wonderful. Write it just the way you would tell it to a friend. Your story doesn’t have to be formally documented, but please tell us who shared the story with you or simply note “by tradition” if it has been passed down through the family or community. That little bit of information will help future generations understand where the story came from.

Help Keep Del Krieghbaum's Legacy Alive

Some people leave behind memories. Others leave behind a community forever changed.

Delmar "Del" Krieghbaum devoted nearly a century to serving Sugar Grove. As a founding member of the Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department, he spent more than 50 years protecting his neighbors. He also gave countless hours to the Village Board, the Lions Club, the Kane County Fire Chiefs' Association, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Sugar Grove Historical Society, always working to make our community stronger.

This year's Run to Remember 5K & Fun Run on Saturday, September 19, 2026, honors Del's extraordinary life of service.

To celebrate the legacy he leaves behind, Del's family has chosen the Sugar Grove Historical Society as the event's charitable partner, a fitting tribute to someone who believed our community's history should never be forgotten.

Every donation makes a difference. Your gift helps preserve the stories, photographs, artifacts, and history of the people who built Sugar Grove and inspires future generations to remember where they came from.

Special thanks to everyone who helped out and attended the Corn Boil Saturday Open House at the SG Historical Society. It was wonderful to meet so many people new to the Historical Society. Don’t be a stranger. Stop in! Spread the word. Become a member. This community-building event was created to bring us together and share the stories of Sugar Grove.
